Fine living . . . a la carte? Come to the Waldorf-Astoria!
LISTEN HUNGRY ONES!
Look! See what Vanity Fair says about the new Waldorf-Astoria:
"All the luxuries of private home. . . ."Now, won't that be charming when the last flop-house has turned you down this winter? Furthermore:
"It is far beyond anything hitherto attempted in the hotel
world. . . ." It cost twenty-eight million dollars. The famous Oscar Tschirky is in charge of banqueting. Alexandre Gastaud is chef. It will be a distinguished background for society. So when you've no place else to go, homeless and hungry ones, choose the Waldorf as a background for your rags—
(Or do you still consider the subway after midnight good enough?)
ROOMERS
Take a room at the new Waldorf, you down-and-outers—sleepers in charity's flop-houses where God pulls a long face, and you have to pray to get a bed.
They serve swell board at the Waldorf-Astoria. Look at the menu, will
you:
GUMBO CREOLE
CRABMEAT IN CASSOLETTE
BOILED BRISKET OF BEEF
SMALL ONIONS IN CREAM
WATERCRESS SALAD
PEACH MELBA
Have luncheon there this afternoon, all you jobless. Why not? Dine with some of the men and women who got rich off of your labor, who clip coupons with clean white fingers because your hands dug coal, drilled stone, sewed garments, poured steel to let other people draw dividends and live easy.(Or haven't you had enough yet of the soup-lines and the bitter bread of charity?)Walk through Peacock Alley tonight before dinner, and get warm, anyway. You've got nothing else to do.
I am just dropping by because it has been forever, a few lovely people have been upset over the lack of posts (u know who you are), and I can't rent Paperheart on the apple TV yet sooooo....yah.
Long story short my mind has been a mess lately with finals and just the happenings of life but here are some images of recent inspiration. Recently I have been listening to a lot of Belle and Sebastian, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Atmosphere but I am too tired to make a playlist, I do however promise a Christmas playlist soon! ;)
much love, Call images from google and weheartit.com
So its Friday night after a long couple of weeks and I am weary and tired. The play is over :( and I am getting back into regular life. I love my life during plays, late nights at school working hard, forgetting a bout homework, thoroughly enjoying acting and becoming a character and being with fellow actors. Back to homework, blah and regular life. The boring pace of day to day school life is cured when one tries to find joy in the unusual, leading to many great discoveries.
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I saw a fantastic movie, The Brothers Bloom. First of all it is amazing, the story is amazing, the costumes, the actors, the sets, the mood and everything in between. Second of all it is so inspiring visually and as I sat watching the story unfold I thought of how badly I wished to be transported into that movie. Here are some pictures from The Brothers Bloom thank you Google Images...what would I do with out you ;)
AND HE SAILED OFF THROUGH NIGHT AND DAY
IN AND OUT OF WEEKS, AND ALMOST OVER A YEAR TO WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE!
I wish in the movie that they had included this scene a bit disappointing if one of your fondest childhood memories was wishing your bedroom would turn into a forest.
Love, Cloë bored and hoping swine flu will go away
there's a hurricane inside
a rattling of vertebra
shifts into life
hunched over
words
and reason
and numbers
In between the blue lines
etched into the blizzard
there is truth
scattered
in danger red
red lines
red emotion
are vertically rebellious
lead cracks and melts
into a shimmering shadow
of iridescence
and ignorance
the specter of many colors
is the illusion
in a mess of brain
he turns off the lights
outside there is
sun
rain
a swing
a dream
but inside is a hurricane
and the words
and reason
and numbers
seal in the keyholes
On Friday, a miraculous and very exciting event took place...I GOT A PART IN THE SCHOOL PLAY! And, I am not a fairy or a bird or a tree :D The play is Mother Courage and Her Children and I will be playing Kattrin, the mute daughter of Mamma Courage. It is a challenging role but I'm excited to work hard. I'm all ready nervous for opening night!
So my all-school retreat happened this week and I just have to say it was pretty amazing, filled with tears, sunshine, kool-aid, laughter, realization, new friendships and new experiences.
Now you might be thinking that this post is random but really it is just a glimpse down the corridor of my life so here's to honesty and memories.
I realized how crazy blessed I am to go to my school and how lucky I am to be surrounded by so many wonderful people. In the midst of playing soccer with Meadow the soccer star and friends and sitting in a circle and just talking about the pain each of us are going through made the retreat so special. I hope everyone has an experience where you realize how lucky you are and how beautiful a life can be.
Sentimentally, Cloë :D
The September issue of Vogue is out and it is love and joy in-between a paper cover! My favorite photo shoot has to be Into the Woods. Inspired by one cheeky little girl with a great sense of fashion and a nose for trouble, it reeks with childhood fantasy and danger. Page 464 is the title page and Vodianova sports the iconic cloak in a mysterious forest. On page 466 she looks so cozy nestled in leaves and in a crazy-warm looking jacket. On page 467 is my favorite outfit. She seems so royal, with a strong color and those glorious ruffles at the sleeves and at the neck. Of course the garment is Chanel and the best part is that the ruffles are detachable. If you want to look like a Victorian doll you can, or you can remove the ruffles and look ridiculously chic. It’s "The Best of Both Worlds" if you ask me to quote a pop star with an identity problem. Little Red's enemy shows up on page 468 but it is okay because Little Red rocks thigh high boots and a boyfriend blazer. Very 8o's very cute. Our heroine looks into the sky all forlorn on page 469. This is my second favorite outfit because she looks just like a Russian nesting doll and if I could, I would dress like a Russian nesting doll every day.
She continues on her journey but you will have to buy the issue for yourself to find out what amazing outfits she chooses.
The End
So recently I bought a bike on Craig's List and I am in love. It is so lovely and it has a basket and it is amazing and I ride it in my dreams. My neighborhood is great for bike riding so it has been great to explore the streets around my house. I named her Winifred by the way.

What woe ...what sadness... The tears fall like starry spindly spiders from the web(no pun intended)... what abandonment what cruelty. I am ashamed to call my self a blogger. The world, like a twisted mess of color is waiting for simple delights to fall into myfisted hand, creep and crawl into its wrinkles. I observe and I am filled with wonderment but you dear blog are the blank canvas. I have dreams of splattering upon you an array of color magic. Like a menagerie I have yet to fill you with zebras and conjoined lamb twins. Your eyes are still and dead and I am left with the power to breath new life into you... so i think I will pick up my paintbrushes.
Love, an ashamed blogger
I am feeling happy so here is another blog post. THAT'S TWO IN ONE DAY! Plus I owe you all. So basically here is a short summery of my summer this year... We all join in our sorrow as we remember a fallen villain whom raided the sky. The death is said to have been murder by rubbing alcohol and we have the F.B.I on the tracks of this case. There will be a small service by the Willow Forest in hopes of a last good bye to this bumbling character. The fairies, the Butterfly Troupe, and the Ladybug Committee rejoice but on the other hand the Society for Stinging, Brutal, and Cruel Flying Things mourn a soldiers death.

Hello(insert name),
What a lovely day it was. I guess the sun has decided to surprise us and I guess the weather remembered it was summer. Soo as I am sure you are all aware of in this moment in time I beautified my blog. I was kinda sick of those ocean colored birds peaking and cawing up a storm on my banner. Instead I took the remnants of my mind at the moment and tried to make sense of it on paper. That is what I came up with.
Any way, I also have been drawing and painting lately in my long, tortuous hours. However, the truth of the matter is that I love being bored and I really can't complain. Ok so I have been drawing these little characters and they are all part of a little series I like to call "Dolly Hi". The one showcased below is Aubrey and she looks as if she is going for a stroll down the Champs-Élysées, but I don't know. She is just a rough sketch..... so ya.....well off to my room to be bored at 10:41.
Yours Truly, Cloe
P.S. Ohh and I also uploaded some photos of my trip to Disnayland they are right below "A Lovely Trip"
so my father just caught this giant Bumble bee and I have named him Benjamin I think. He is fuzzy and black with these cute little yellow dots. Though a bit scary he is very cute. I hope to draw him in the near future or right about this poor villain the bumble bee Benjamin. I do believe he will inspire a poem but who knows. Funny little random happenings in everyday life can be quite exciting. Well back to summer reading :D
Yours Truly, Cloë
p.s. and yes I still will put those pictures of Disneyland up some time soon. Sorry :(
Today I am going to Disneyland and I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited :D I have not been there in ages and I must say I love that place to death. The sunshine, the smell of churros, the ringing of laughter through the air, the constant and annoyoing chimeing of Disney songs drfting and the kalidoscope feel of color, light and motion. I really could go on and on about this place and how I will eat all the cotton candy and so work there as the character Alice when I grow up but then that would be boring so to who ever reads this poor blog I will post some photos of my adventures when I get back. p.s hopefully I will see you (H&R) on tuesday if not HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

So this poor little blog has been so abandoned :( and though I am sure my lovely readers have lost Patience with me I hope to get this puppy up and running again. Freshman year is OVER (well almost two days left) and I am so excited for summer. I have to go for now but with all my free time I will have to spend it here.
So here we are at home :( While half of our friends are in Europe. In hopes of a European day dream here is a play-list inspired by London, Paris, and happy lovely curious days wandering. Bon Voyage!
Grades are priority sadly and I'm sure you all have found out that school is well...hard :) So there it is, my sad reason for abandoning my attic and my lovely swallows. Excitement did tickle my feathers this weekend becuase... the first Pacifica Shakespearean Theater Troupe traveled over land and sea (well not sea) to go to a Shakespeare festival. IT WAS LOVELY and soon I will post some photos. It was interesting slipping into character after such a long time for the last time. Sadly we did not win anything but it was fun hanging with fellow actors. Whisking on costumes, zipping corsets, smearing on makeup, mumbling lines, twirling with excitement, loads of praying and one push into the spotlight was my experience.
By the LACMA there is this great piece of art that is a square patch of concrete that looks as if lampposts have begun to grow there. It is hard to explain, so you will have to just see it for your self ;) Here is a poem inspired by it.
P.S To the right is an album with more photos of such a whimsical escapade. . .
For a moment I am lost
Illuminated souls
Telegraphing truth
Into my imagination
Is this real?
Lost in such a forest
Meandering through sturdy
Sea dream colored
Posts
Light adorns me
Is this real?
I have plunged into
An aquarium of dreamy light
swimming through
Nonexistence
For a moment
I am okay being lost
I left it all behind
Crawling through
The door of reality
Into a resplendent world
Is this real?
I screamed
“Don’t get lost”
Now that fades
Into fighting gurgles
Bubbles bouncing upwards
Now lost
I run
Wind moving out of the way
My feet sew
An SOS
As if pushing through
Life backwards
I am ripped from the scene
Outside of such joy
Confusion rattles me
I long to be tucked
Inside a cage of
Whispering beacons
The other side seems greener
But maybe it’s
Just the shadows
That deceive so easily
I turn
Silhouetted
Away from
The hopes and dreams
Of an army of lampposts
Don’t look back?

. . . since I have posted anything, not even a simple hello. MY LIFE HAS BEEN GOING GOING GOING but with the up coming break I am excited for relaxation and peace.
1. Lilly Allen has a lovely new single out with a whimsical video The Fear I do warn you though she cusses so you might want to watch the clean version :)
2. The Kooks have really boring videos but the Shine On video though simple is visually gorgeous.
3. Regina Specter is always a fave of mine and her video for Us is amazingly clever.
4. Laura Marling is so very talented and her video for My Manic & I is eerie and her lyrics are beautiful.
5. OMG I adore Vampire Weekend and their video A-Punk is quite unexpected and fun.
6. Noah and the Whale has an lol video inspired by luchadors, Shape of My Heart. . . ( don't ask just watch it k)
7. Leftovers by Johnny Flynn has such a sweet melody and the video is delightfully unique.
8. The White Stripes are quite frankly amazing and their video for My Door Bell is so much fun :D
Hello wonder children, its me! Attired in my uniform, in my chaotic comp lab advisory and my imagination is filled to the brim with poetic images that block out all other noise. School so far has been well. . .ok. Lunch is soon and I just thought I would say hello and share with you some little tidbits of things that I'm into at the moment. I have been listening to the Kooks NON-STOP NO JOKE! My fave song is Seaside. It is so beautiful and simple and the lyrics are quiet and like a little window into another life. Also I have been making handmade bow bobby pins. It is really simple and one of these day (when I have time lol) I would love to put together a how to :) Well I better go almost time to switch into another room. BYE!
So how is everyone? I must apologize for not posting in awhile, school has been hard, people have been hard and yah, I have just been really busy. No I don't have a recent poem to share with you (I know very surprising) but I am enjoying this website Polyvore where you can create collages, enter contests, and put together outfits. Here are a few of my creations :)
p.s. I added a new album with some pictures of my recent happenings.
In my english class we are reading an ancient book called Gilgamesh. Here is a poem I wrote inspired by the laments* in the story.
* A lament is a song, poem or piece of music expressing grief, regret or mourning.
Only See the Dark
Everything died
Dripping with prayers
The sky no longer glints
Reflected in our hopes and dreams
I told the wind I didn’t care
It carried it to you and your soul died
Now you have nothing
Now I have nothing
And hope is impossible
To hammer into this rocky heart
The ground is completed
Now that you lie nestled
In memories and I hope
You enjoy all that I can’t
I just want to tell you that
Your dreams visited me
And whispered your secrets
Now my songs hang limp in my throat
For they no longer have your
Sweet guitar chords to cling too
I feel the sun arising
But I only see the dark
Yes, I have begun High school and it is not as bad as I thought it was going to be, it is actually, well. . . fun. Though socially its not so great, I LOVE LEARNING and I have such amazing teachers. Any way sorry I have not posted anything in awhile and I hope you enjoy these haikus.
Hidden
A blue bird told me
Secrets hidden in time
But soon flew away
Silent Crows
Crows waver
In and out of black and white
Their own silent film
H&G
Hansel & Gretel
Lost their way in-between dreams
They never woke up
Finally, The Invention of Hugo Cabret is going to be made into a movie *jumps up and down joyfully* I think it is going to be directed by Chris wedge (Scrat from Ice age lol) Also it is going to be under Infinitum Nihil, Johnny Depp's production company and Warner Bros.! I can't tell you how excited I am but I do so hope they don't ruin it :(
living in Los Angeles with my head in the clouds and one foot through the looking glass. I think there is something wrong with me but even so my eyes fill with time's venom and I hope and wait and think.
